In recent history, there hasn’t been a more critical time to secure your supply chain. With reshoring on the rise, a persistent labor shortage, and increasing demands for faster lead times, job shops that rely solely on reactive orders are finding themselves struggling to keep up. That’s why Wal-Tek Industries has developed a forward-thinking solution: our Rapid Inventory Program (RIP), a modern approach to vendor-managed inventory (VMI) that offers flexibility, security, and peace of mind for our customers.
What Is Wal-Tek’s Rapid Inventory Program?

The RIP program is Wal-Tek’s unique take on VMI, built specifically for companies who want to lock in manufacturing capacity, optimize their cash flow, and eliminate the stress of unpredictable supply chains. Rather than dealing with long lead times or scrambling to expedite parts when production spikes, the RIP program allows you to secure your parts on our shelves. That way, they’re ready when you need them!
Unlike transactional ordering, where parts are made only after an order is placed, the RIP program proactively builds and holds inventory based on your forecasted demand. With a range of capabilities offered by our precision contract manufacturing divisions like CNC machining, sheet metal fabrication, and tube laser cutting, we’re able to build your parts to spec, hold them in bonded inventory and release them as your production schedule requires.
Why Traditional Job Shop Ordering No Longer Works
In the past, placing a purchase order and receiving parts within a few weeks was standard practice. But with the current reshoring boom and labor shortages, that model is no longer sustainable in the long run. Long lead times, capacity constraints, and unexpected bottlenecks can put even the most organized buyers in stressful positions. With our Rapid Inventory Program, you can lock in your production capacity ahead of time, ensuring that your parts are always in stock and ready for shipment.
At Wal-Tek, we aren’t looking for one-off, transactional projects; we’re looking to build partnerships. And the RIP program allows us to align our production schedules with our customers’ forecasted needs, filling open capacity during machine downtime and ensuring your parts stay in stock and available when you need them.
How the RIP Program Works
Qualifying for the RIP program
While many customers express interest, the RIP program is designed for businesses that meet the following key qualifications:
- Size of parts: Parts smaller than 3’ x 3’ are ideal
- Annual volume: 1000+ parts per year
- Key characteristics: Legacy parts that won’t change frequently are the perfect candidates for this program
Bonded inventory
Once your parts are qualified, we build them in advance and hold them in bonded inventory. That means the parts are built and reserved for you, but not invoiced until they ship.
Shelf life
Please note that each lot has a 90-day shelf life, after which we will proactively ship any remaining inventory to your facility.
Status Transparency with Fulcrum ERP integration
With our suite of digital tools that we call “the Wal-Tek Stack,” customers gain real-time visibility into the status of their inventory. They can simply log into their portal and see how many parts are on the shelf without even emailing or placing a phone call. This transparency eliminates guesswork, reduces manual touchpoints, and empowers our customers to make informed purchasing decisions.
The Perks: Why Buyers and Leaders Love the RIP Program
For buyers, managing inventory can be a constant balancing act. Order too much, and you risk excessive inventory. Order too little, and you risk missing production deadlines. The Rapid Inventory Program relieves this pressure by automating much of the purchasing process. With RIP, you:
- Lock in manufacturing capacity
- Reduce lead times dramatically after the initial inventory is built
- Secure pricing through long-term agreements
- Maximize cash flow with bonded inventory, so you only need to pay when parts ship
- Eliminate the constant juggling of manual reordering
For leadership teams, the RIP program offers long-term supply chain security and a stronger partnership model. It’s ideal for companies that value reliability, scalability, and shared growth.
At Wal-Tek Industries, we always seek to cultivate partnerships where both sides benefit. The Rapid Inventory Program provides you with a smarter, Leaner, more resilient solution to today’s manufacturing challenges. With over 28 years of trusted service, continuous investment in automation, and our fully digitized shop, we’re committed to helping our partners stay competitive today, tomorrow, and years down the road.
